F1 Post-qualifying press conference - Great Britain 2011

Drivers: 1 - Mark Webber (Red Bull), 2 - Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull), 3 - Fernando Alonso (Ferrari)
Q: Mark, you won here last year, pole position today, what is it about you and this Silverstone circuit?
Mark Webber:
Oh, not sure. I think I always enjoy driving here. You have still got to put it alltogether. You don't get these results without applying yourself. It was a very mixed session for all of us. Even the build-up, obviously, with yesterday's rain and things like that..

Britain Grand Prix 2011 preview quotes - McLaren, Mercedes, Sauber & more

After the confines of street tracks in Monaco, Montreal and Valencia, the Formula One calendar moves to the wide and wind-swept open spaces of Silverstone. With a new pit lane and paddock buildings, which have drawn a fair few compliments from those drivers lucky enough to have visited, the teams cannot wait to begin their on-track preparations at what is for many their home race…

Lewis Hamilton, McLaren
2010 Qualifying - 4th, 2010 Race - 2nd
“My victory at Silverstone in 2008 was one of the sweetest and most satisfying moments of my entire Formula One career - and it’s a memory that I always carry with me. Standing on the top step of the podium, and looking across at the sea of flags and faces in the grandstands opposite was simply incredible. For this year, of course,

Formula1 post-race press conference - Europe

Drivers: 1 - Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull); 2 - Fernando Alonso (Ferrari); 3 - Mark Webber (Red Bull).

Q: Sebastian, another win. You described it on the team radio as better than anything you could imagine. Why do you rate this win so highly?
Sebastian Vettel:
Yeah, I mean maybe from the outside I don't know how much there was happening in the Grand Prix. But maybe from the outside. At least for myself it looked like a boring race but I tell you I enjoy it so much when it is between you and the car every single lap. Of course, I had some pressure from behind at various times as the strategy was a little bit different from Mark and Fernando.

They may both have temporary waterside locations, but there aren’t many similarities between last weekend’s Monaco event and the forthcoming Canadian round. Whilst the cars wound their way around Monte Carlo’s tight and twisty seaside streets, in Montreal they will be unleashed around a riverside track dominated by long straights and low-speed chicanes. But for all their differences, they are equally popular. The drivers and senior team personnel explain why the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is such a firm favourite and discuss their prospects...

December would be ideal to hold F1 race grand prix in India

PUNE: President of Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) Vicky Chandhok feels it would be ideal if India hosts its inaugural F1 Grand Prix in the month of December instead of scheduled October 30.

"Personally I feel and I am being a bit selfish, December would be an ideal date considering it to be the concluding event," said Chandhok, who was here as a part of a seminar panel that discussed Formula One's debut in India last night.
"We could have a long weekend of awards ceremonies and all that comes with it. The weather would be great as well. Although October 30 is also a nice day as the championship fight could still be on," he added.

Post-race press conference at Monaco

Drivers: 1 - Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull), 2 - Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), 3 - Jenson Button (McLaren).

Q: Sebastian, great race. Three different strategies in the top three positions, but the upshot is you are a Monaco Grand Prix winner. Describe your feelings?

Sebastian Vettel: It is unbelievable and I think the race today was pretty entertaining from the inside of the car at least. I had a good first stint, a good start to the race, I could pull a gap to Jenson, so reasonably happy. I was targeted to go longer on the options, Jenson came in and we had a problem with the pit-stop, we reacted, so we lost the position. Went on the hard, he went on the soft and he was pulling away like crazy, pulling a gap. But then we were staying out a bit longer on the primes. With the safety car it was good to have a little break, Jenson behind, and he was much quicker on the soft tyres, but it is very difficult to pass here. I knew that. He came in for his final stop. He had to as he was three times on the softs so he had to go on the hards. Fernando was a bit on a similar strategy. Probably they were a bit more clever on the safety car to bring him in and he got a new set of hard tyres. But then the lap Jenson pitted, we initially wanted to react, to pit as well, but I said ‘let’s try to one-stop’. There were like 33 laps to go. I had quite a good feeling on the tyres I had. I had nowhere close to fresh tyres anymore. I saw the only chance to win this race was to try to stay out. It was really close. I think it was 20 laps under pressure with Fernando and Jenson behind. I know it is difficult to pass here but it was getting closer and closer and I think it would have been a difficult six laps. But then we caught the group. In fact they crashed in front of us, so another safety car and then a suspended race, which allowed us to change tyres. I got rid of these stones, of these old tyres, and the final, final attempt with everyone on a fresher set, it was easier to pull away a little bit and get a gap out of those corners that it really mattered. Extremely happy. At some stage I was P2 with 15 seconds behind Jenson and the victory seemed far away. But I have said it is a crazy place. The roulette spun a lot last night and it kept on spinning during this race. Crazy. I am really, really happy. Fantastic result and extreme honour to put my name down on the list of previous winners here, so a perfect day I guess.

Monaco grand prix 2011 preview by Mercedes & Sauber on Monte Carlo

Having barely had time to catch their breath after a tense Spanish round, the paddock has a little over three days to pack up and shift operations to Monte Carlo for Thursday's opening practice sessions around the punishing Monaco streets. They pose a challenge like no other on the Formula One calendar - and one that those involved relish…
Michael Schumacher, Mercedes
2010 Qualifying - 7th, 2010 Race - 12th
Monaco has always been one of my favourite races and I love driving there. The street circuit may be somewhat anachronistic when we usually care so much about safety but the race is so special on the Formula One calendar that for once, you just go for it. What I also like is that it must be great for the fans to be close to the cars and experience the power. We had a more positive weekend in Barcelona so I hope that we can carry this progress through to Monaco. It's difficult to predict how the car will perform as it is such a unique circuit so we will have to wait and see.
Nico Rosberg, Mercedes
2010 Qualifying - 6th, 2010 Race - 7th
The Monaco Grand Prix is always a thrilling weekend for me. It's my home race and to drive in front of my family and my friends is always very special. My old school is actually right next to the paddock! I also really love driving the circuit as you have to drive very aggressively but also be so precise. The drive through the tunnel at 280 kph is always a real adventure. You are so close to the barriers that you can really feel how fast the cars actually are. This year, the race has the potential to be more exciting than ever. If KERS and the DRS do make overtaking possible, it will be great for the fans.
Ross Brawn, Mercedes team principal
The Monaco Grand Prix presents a very special challenge and is one of those race weekends that everyone really enjoys. It's also a race track where you never know what can happen, and the experience of winning at Monaco is something very special. Over the last three race weekends, I have been pleased with how the team and drivers have performed, and we have seen a steady improvement in our consistency. We need to find more performance and more speed from the car, and will continue to work hard at this, both at the factory and in Monaco.
Norbert Haug, Vice-President, Mercedes-Benz Motorsport
Everyone in our team is looking forward to the classic race around the streets of Monte Carlo next weekend. The Monaco Grand Prix is probably the most famous and best known motorsport event worldwide, and Mercedes-Benz has fond memories of great wins there. Logistically this race is always a challenge for the team and the organisers as it takes place just seven days after the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. But still, everyone loves the race, and we hope for a good result and better speed compared to the top of the field than we had in Barcelona.
Kamui Kobayashi, Sauber
2010 Qualifying - 16th, 2010 Race - DNF
"I think Monaco is a very nice circuit and it is also very exciting to be racing there. Last year it was a very difficult race for us, but I think this year it is going to be different. We have been working a lot on our car for the slow corners, and I hope we have a good performance there. I have raced there three times before - twice in GP2 and then for the first time in Formula One last year. I think it is still going to be very hard to overtake, but maybe there will now be a chance with the rear wing system. But we never know, and it may also be risky. I think it helps if you are a driver living there, and you also get tax relief!"
